On Fridays [this week Sunday, due to Halloween festivities], we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Tuesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Meet Marcus!

Marcus is a gorgeous purebred Cocker Spaniel with adorable freckles on his nose. He was extremely scared and withdrawn at the shelter after being picked up as a stray, but after a few days in his foster home, his sweet, playful personality is starting to shine through.

Once he gets to know and trust you, he is your constant companion, following you around the house and sleeping at your feet or by the side of the bed. Despite being nervous around new people, he’s tolerant and calm with kids and doesn’t seem to mind their loud noises and sudden movements.

Marcus is quiet and housebroken, and he has done fine left alone loose in the house for several hours. He is not comfortable going in a crate. He walks beautifully on a leash, though he can get nervous when people approach too quickly. It will take some time and patience to build up his confidence. He likes the small female dog that lives in his foster home [see photo of them together on the left].

Marcus seems to enjoy being brushed, which is a good thing because he’ll require regular, thorough grooming. He has some dry, itchy skin that will probably benefit from a high-quality food and possibly regular shampoos.

Marcus will be a great companion for someone who is willing to take things slowly and build up his trust. Despite being a little timid at first, he obviously loves people and will make a loving, devoted member of the family.

Marcus (SAS ID #A29946933) is being lavished with attention in a foster home; he is not at the shelter. If you would like to meet him, you must submit a Dog Adoption Application to SAS.

Download the application and follow the instructions for submitting it via email or fax. Or, you may pick up an application at the Shelter. If you have general questions about Marcus, please send them to sasfosterdogs@gmail.com.
