On Fridays, we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Tuesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Squid 1Meet Squid!

Hi, I’m Squid! I am looking for a forever home where I can assume my reign and be my Tortie self. I am not going to smother you, but I will greet you enthusiastically when you get home! I like it when you pet me, brush me, and play with me but then I’ll go off and take a bath, or jump up high in my cat tree by the window as I do love watching the trees and birds and bugs! I like to nap and if I want some attention when I wake up I’ll ask for it with my little chirpy meows.

I love it when you pet me from my head to the base of my tail. Sometimes I like to be in the same room with you, but sometimes I just want to do my own thing, like sleep in a little box I found that’s just my size. When I’m feeling frisky, I will chase string, feathers, and I do play ping pong. Yep. There is video to prove it!

Squid 2My foster mom is a nice lady who calls me Squiddy-kitty, Squiddify, and Squee-Squee. She says I’m “totally lovable, sweet, amusing, quirky, curious, confident, and independent.” Yeah, true, I don’t love being held, and I’m not much for sitting on human laps, but I talk to my humans and I sure do like it when they play with me and brush me and scratch my cheeks. If you’re working at your desk, I might jump up there too to keep you company, especially if there’s a window for me to look out.

In terms of my house etiquette, I know the rules and I am very good about using my litter box and my nice cardboard scratcher. (Oh! I just have one rule for you – I prefer clay clumping litter.) I used to be indoor/outdoor, and gosh I’d be so happy with some future supervised opportunities to go outside. But I don’t make a rush for the door or anything when you open it – I’m just happy you came home!

Squid 3Squid would thrive in a moderately active household with adults and teens, and would be easy for a first-time cat owner who does not require a lap cat. She is six years old, spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. She would prefer to preside as your one and only pet, but who could blame her? With the endearing Squid around, your home would be complete. Why not call to set up a meeting? Your next best friend is waiting.

Squid (SAS ID #15-112) is waiting patiently in foster care for your call. Please contact the Foster Care Hotline at (206) 684-0685 to arrange a meeting. Thank you!
