On Fridays [this week it’s Saturday] we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Tuesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Meet Lady Bug!

Hi there! I’m not quite sure how this happened as I’m sweet, friendly and so very cute – but at 14 years young, I find myself looking for a new home.

As a mature and dignified Lady, I mastered basic commands like ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘bed’ a long time ago. I’m the perfect size (about 22 lbs), a polite but enthusiastic eater, house-trained and well-mannered. I even like riding in the car!

Somewhere along the way I developed a collapsed trachea so I must be careful not to exert myself too much. Despite this, I have good energy and mobility, and can scamper around like a dog half my age.

There’s been some debate as to my breed, with some suggesting Miniature Pinscher and others saying German Pinscher. With my reddish coloring, I resemble a little deer – appropriate, as my foster mother tells me I am a “little dear.” Whatever my breed, one thing is certain: I’m gentle and trusting, and a perfect addition to a calm, loving household.

I’m looking for a home where I can relax with my person, receive belly rubs on demand and go for short walks.

Since I enjoy being with my people, I’d prefer a home where they’d be around a lot to adore me. That’s how it should be when you reach my age, don’t you think? So what are you waiting for? Apply to meet me today! I can’t wait to adore you back.

Lady Bug (SAS ID #15-5187) is waiting patiently for your call in a foster home; she is not at the Shelter.

If you would like to meet Ladybug, you must submit a Dog Adoption Application to SAS. Download the application and follow the instructions for submitting it via email or fax. Or, you may pick up an application at the Shelter. If you have general questions about LadyBug, you may call the Shelter’s Animal Care Staff at 206-386-4294.
