On Fridays, we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Tuesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Meet the Amazing Mr. Butters!

What better way to learn more about this week’s pet of the week, Mr. Butters, then to hear from his foster family. Foster families bring adoptable pets into their homes so they don’t have to stay in a noisy and confusing shelter while they look for their forever homes. Foster families learn how the pet settles into a new home environment and reacts to different situations they encounter. This information is used to determine what type of home would be best for each pet and also shared with potential adopters to ensure they are compatible with the pet. Here’s what Mr. Butters foster family has to say about him:

Info directly from Mr. Butters’ Foster Family:

Foster Mom: When we first met Mr. Butters, we could not believe how curious he was! He walked all around our house sniffing and investigating for hours. He was calm and methodical, but curious! He never seemed skittish or panicked. Words we would use to describe him include: distinguished, patient, gentle and always nearby with a purr!

He has even started to show some affection (or at least significant tolerance) for our Boston Terrier. Mr. Butters follows us around, waiting for a pet. He genuinely likes to be around people. We have fostered cats before who are always clawing to get onto our laps or jumping onto our keyboards while were typing. Mr. Butters is much too civilized for that sort of behavior. He politely curls up next to us while we are sitting on the couch. Occasionally, if it seems alright with us, he will delicately lay part of his body on our laps. Mr. Butters has terrific manners and would be a wonderful cat for a family that is looking for a distinguished gentleman!

Foster Kid (12 year old boy): What makes Mr. Butters such a great cat is how much he likes to be around people and how much he appreciates love and affection. Mr. Butters is very kind and friendly and does well with our dog. He is also very good with kids and seeks attention, especially from children. Mr. Butters also requires very little guidance and is very obedient. He has no problems using the litter box and is completely housebroken.

Foster Kid (10 year old girl): Mr. Butters is fun, playful, and always stays by your side. He is a cute critter and adores dogs. He is also very old, but he is still capable of jumping up on the couches. He is also very cuddly and can find his way around your house. He also loves to play with toys that make sounds or smell or move. And those are some of the reasons why I think you should adopt this cat, the very special Mr. Butters.

Mr. Butters is a senior, neutered, male cat. He has high blood pressure and takes medication once a day. The pill is very small and super easy to drop in his food. Butters also has some limited vision, so he occasionally bumps into things, but he is not blind and gets around extremely well.

Mr. Butters (SAS ID #15-1460-1) is waiting patiently in his foster home for your call. Please contact the Foster Care Hotline at (206) 684-0685 to arrange a meeting.
