This weekend, WSDOT will be closing all lanes of Aurora/SR99 between the Battery Street Tunnel and Valley St. The lane closures are needed so Seattle City Light crews can remove electrical lines and poles for the Mercer West Project, and so that WSDOT crews can connect a new water main for the SR 99 tunnel project.
The stretch of Aurora will be closed from 10pm Friday, May 8th through 5am Sunday, May 10th. Since there are Mariners games on Friday and Saturday, they’re staggering some of the closure times and opening lanes to help with the traffic flow:
Southbound lanes of SR 99:
- Closed from 10pm Friday, May 8th, to 5am Sunday, May 10th
- At least one lane will temporarily reopen 3–10:30pm Saturday, May 9th
Northbound lanes of SR 99
- Closed from 11pm Friday, May 8th, to 5am Sunday, May 10th
- Both lanes will temporarily reopen 8:30–10:30pm Saturday, May 9th
Plan ahead and expect more traffic around Lower Queen Anne as drivers detour around the closure.
