On Fridays we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Tuesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Abby Phinn 1Meet Abby & Phinn

Phinn (male/ring-necked dove) and Abby (female/white dove) are the sweetest couple! These two spend their days cuddling in their nest and softly cooing.

Phinn is a true gentleman and dotes on Abby, regularly bringing her pieces of hay to add to their nest, and making sure she’s comfortable. You will be touched by the tenderness and love these two show for each other. Abby and Phinn are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

Abby Phinn 3Abby and Phinn need an extra-large enclosure with a nesting basket and materials for nesting. As the result of an unfortunate accident, Abby’s beak is bent and will need regular beak trims to allow her to eat normally. These two do coo a lot, so they are looking for a home where their sweet noises will not be a problem for roommates or neighbors. (We find their cooing quite pleasant.)

Abby Phinn 2Doves are very gentle natured birds that are easy to care for. They’re quiet, smart and social, and they don’t bite or screech. It’s been said that they are the masters of the leisure arts – napping, flirting, sunbathing and nesting. Doves require a grain mix containing between 12-16% protein, pigeon grit and clean water (and would probably appreciate the occasional safflower seed or millet spray treat). Most doves also love greens and minced veggies.

If you think Abby and Phinn might be the right new friends for you, contact the Foster Care Hotline at (206) 684-0685 to arrange a meeting.
