Malaysian food tasting and author signing at Charley+May this Friday

Charley+May is hosting an author signing with a twist this Friday. Queen Anne author Karen Tripson has a new novel, The Cooking Class in Kuala Lumpur, and she’ll be at Charley+May, 2225 Queen Anne Ave N, from 4pm to 6pm on Friday, November 8th – and there will be food too!

Kuala LumpurAll are invited to the free event, and if you love food, wine and cooking, it’s likely right up your alley. The food tasting part of the event will feature bites of sweet, salty, spicy recipes from the book, such as Shrimp with Coconut Curry dipping sauce and Rojak Salad on a Stick with a sweet dipping sauce, plus, white wine to sip with the bites.

This author event celebrating culinary fiction and food is free to all! Add it to your Friday plans, along with Queen Anne Dispatch’s Friends & Family event, just across the street.

Queen Anne Rotary Club hosting a wine tasting fundraiser on Monday

If you like wine, charitable benefits, and the chance to win a prize, the Rotary Club of Queen Anne has all three rolled into one – it’s hosting a wine tasting fundraiser at Wine World in Wallingford on Monday, February 11th. Tickets are $25 with proceeds benefitting the Global Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss, and you’ll also have the opportunity to win a Nikon Coolpix digital camera via raffle.

Join Queen Anne Rotary on Monday from 6pm-9pm at Wine World (400 NE 45th St), enjoy wine and light snacks, and enter to win the Nikon Coolpix L310 digital camera. Just $5 buys an entry to win the camera ($250 value), or for $10 you can triple your chances to win – all for a good cause!

At the Queen Anne Farmers Market today

After a great season opening last week, the Queen Anne Farmers Market will be back in action at W Crockett Street from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today, Thursday, June 9.

In addition the the long list fresh items and vendors available at the market each week, there will be a chef demo with Vuong Loc of Queen Anne’s Portage Restaurant and Madrona’s June at 4 p.m. in the chef tent. From the QAFM website:

Chef Loc moved to Seattle in 2006 after working all over the country from New York to Hawaii. With an approach to cooking that centers on simple preparations with refined craftsmanship and a commitment to sourcing only outstanding product, we can’t wait to see what he prepares after a shopping trip at the market.

At 5 p.m. there will be live music courtesy of vocalist and guitarist Beth Whitney.

As if the live music, chef demos, and all around food-centric festivities at the market weren’t enough, Charley+May owner Lauren Formicola will be holding an After Market Wine Tasting from 6 to 9 p.m. every Thursday at her shop, located at 2225 Queen Anne Ave N, until the end of the Queen Anne Farmers Market season.
