At the Queen Anne Farmers Market this week

July 7th, 2010 by Thea

This week might end up being one of the hottest Queen Anne Farmers Markets to date (with temperatures estimated to reach a high of 92 degrees!) but that won’t stop us from enjoying fresh food, live music and some outdoor festivities! It’s Family Day at the market this week, so there will be lots of fun games and extra goodies for all ages. Check out the schedule for the market this Thursday, July 8:

QueenAnneView is the featured sponsor this week, while the Queen Anne Helpline is the featured nonprofit.

As always, the Queen Anne Farmers Market will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on W Crockett St. at Queen Anne Ave N.

Excitement over the opening of the QA Farmers Market

June 17th, 2009 by Miss Kitty

Everyone loves a good farmers market, and this year the excitement is building over the opening of the relocated Queen Anne Farmers Market this Thursday, June 18th.

Thursdays 3-7 pm, Thursdays, June 18 – October 1, 2009
W Crockett Street @ Queen Anne Ave. N  (near Pasta & Co)

According to their website, the QA Farmers Market,

The numbers are in. For three years running, economics students at Seattle University, led by professor Stacey Jones, have compared organic food prices between Seattle grocery stores and farmers markets. Farmers markets came out cheaper, with prices up to one third less than at grocery stores for 15 items that included Fuji apples, red potatoes, baby carrots, spinach and salad mix. See this Seattle Times article by Karen Gaudette for more information.

On opening day, the QAFM will feature virtuoso guitarist Andre Feriante. This world-reknown artist, when not traveling around the world, has a standing gig (this was his 12th year) at Benaroya Hall for Valentine’s Day. If you’ve ever heard him play, you know the auditory equivalent of the word “swoon.”

Lots to see at the QAFM this week.  Do stop by!

Celebrate Earth Day with good food, drink, and music

April 20th, 2009 by Miss Kitty

Eat Local and seattlefarm come together to provide food in a VERY local way to bring Seattleites delicious, organic food without the “food miles” typically associated with such food. Just this week, the seattlefarmTM vegetable garden service installed a beautiful vegetable garden outside of Eat Local’s storefront.

seattlefarmTM will return once per week to grow different vegetables and herbs that will be included in many of Eat Local’s extraordinary dishes. To celebrate local food, these two sustainability focused companies are having an Earth Day Garden Party at Eat Local. The party will be held this Wednesday, Earth Day – April 22, 2009 from 3:30 – 7:30 pm. There will be live music in the form of the jazz trio “Two Men and a Bassist,” as well as free wine and food samples!

Eat Local, located in Upper Queen Anne, 2400 Queen Anne Avenue North, Seattle WA, is an artisan food store offering prepared meals made with seasonal, organic ingredients bought directly from local farms. For more information, visit www.eatlocalonline.com.

We recently posted a story about seattlefarm, a service developed by Seattle MicroFarm.
