If you’re the parent of a soon-to-be middle-schooler, mark your calendars for this Thursday, January 29th. McClure Middle School is hosting an Open House and Tour to help families learn more about Queen Anne’s neighborhood middle school. Incoming students can learn more about their new school and parents can learn more about what McClure offers its students.

Seattle Public Schools is looking to the community for opinions on its middle school language arts curriculum. From the SPS website:
Parents, families, students, teachers, staff and the community are invited to review and provide input on the instructional materials being considered for Middle School Language Arts.
The materials will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday, May 2 to Friday, May 6, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 7 at McClure Middle School, located at 1915 1st Ave W.

As the kids get back into the swing of school this week, parents whose children are entering kindergarten, middle school or high school this fall need to start thinking about the 2011-2012 school year.
The Seattle Public Schools changed its student assignment plan beginning in Fall 2010. Under the plan, all children within a school’s boundary area will be guaranteed a spot at that school, but parents can still apply to other schools during open enrollment from March 15 to March 31.
Here are the tour dates for Queen Anne service-area schools:

Tours are currently scheduled for January 14 in the morning, and January 24 in the afternoon. The school is considering scheduling an evening open house, but no date has yet been set. Please contact Coe for more information.
