There may be a little less parking on the top of the hill for the next couple of days. Starting today from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. SDOT crews will be repairing the cracked sidewalk in front of the Queen Anne Dispatch, located at 2212 Queen Anne Ave N.

The construction is expected to continue for the same hours through Thursday, January 14, “As long as it doesn’t keep raining,” one of the SDOT employees told me this morning. Half of the sidewalk and street parking is blocked off between Boston and McGraw to accommodate the city’s large (and noisy) machines.

And as if that weren’t enough, it looks like City Light is stationed outside Inspire Pilates across the street, tinkering with their new sign.
Although parking may be sparse, both Inspire and the Dispatch are open for business today, so if you have exercise to do and mail to pick up, don’t be intimidated by the loud roar of the big machines, though you may have to park a few blocks down.

We’ve been reporting on the soon-to-be pilates studio opening on Queen Anne Ave N since August. And now, the time has finally come. Originally set to open in early October, the date was pushed back to January due to a manufacturing delay in the production of their machines. However, though they won’t officially be opening their doors for group classes until next month, Inspire Pilates is currently offering pre-opening specials for interested customers looking to try out their unique brand of pilates.

The workout – called SPX fitness – is based on the holistic principles of pilates, combined with elements of strength training and cardio. It’s designed to be an all-in-one workout focused on muscle toning and calorie burning.
When they’re all set up for their official opening, there will be nine machines in the studio for small group classes, and they will be offering one-on-one sessions and buddy workouts. However, until their opening next month, owner Sue Hahm is offering free 20 minute sessions for anyone interested in getting a taste of Inspire Pilates before attending a full class. See more information about their opening and class offerings here.

Two days ago we reported that a new yoga studio may be opening on the famed caffeine corner. We’re happy to report that the mysterious spot currently under construction at 2215 Queen Anne Ave. N. is in fact going to be a pilates studio!

After reading our previous post, one of the owners, Sue Hahm, wrote us, elaborating on what the studio will offer and what will make it unique from it’s two other corner competitors.
We won’t be offering traditional pilates. Our workout is based on the holistic principles of pilates, but also emphasizes strength training and cardio…to give you a more complete workout.
It’s called Inspire Pilates, and according to Sue, it will be opening in early October.
Good to know caffeine/yoga/pilates corner will have even more variety!
