What’s in the Forum? Car Prowls and More
There are several new Forum topics that range from announcements to fundraising to car prowls. On that latter point, we’ll be compiling some key stats on recent car prowls in an upcoming post – they’ve been picking up and were a top issue at the Queen Anne community meeting with SPD. But, in the meantime, if you’ve been the victim of a car prowl or theft, let us know via email or the Forum
Here are the latest posts that you may have missed:
Car Prowls – car prowls this week include one at Galer and 1st W and another at 9th W and W Bothwell – and that’s just the ones that have been posted. There have been more, and we’ll be posting soon, after the January SPD stats are in.
Lomography Show – Caffe Vita is hosting a show of lomography by J. Wolf. His show runs from February 1-28, and includes works from his Ghosts of Seattle.
Fundraiser for Acupuncturists Without Borders – A local Queen Anne acupuncturist is raising funds for a volunteer trip to Nepal with the non-profit organization Acupuncturists Without Borders.
Free Tax Prep – We highlighted this earlier this month, but since the FREE tax prep begins next Wednesday, February 6th, it’s worth highlighting again. AARP’s TaxAide will be at the Queen Anne Library every Wednesday from February 6th through April 10th. They’ve also added two Saturday sessions.
And more! Including a babysitter with references, a couple seeking a Queen Anne rental, and a local CSA produce drop site. Visit the Forum for more on these posts – it’s for you!
What’s in the Forum? Choir Auditions, Gym Deal, Free Tax Prep, and More
It’s been a while since we had a Forum roundup, but posts are picking up. We’ve had two posts on lost pets – and both have been found! Those posts have been deleted, as they had happy endings (you may recall lost kitty Dilly – she was a Forum post originally).
If you haven’t checked out the Forum lately, here are some other posts that you may be interested in:
Moving Sale – a reader has posted a listing of the like-new furniture that needs to be sold before a relocation move. If you’re looking to furnish a room or more, check out the list!
Women’s Choir Vox Oriana – a women’s choir based in Queen Anne, is holding auditions January 17, 24, and 31. Check out the post for more details on their upcoming Spring concert and the music they perform.
Seattle Gym Special – the New Year is still young, and the Seattle Gym is running a special to help you with your resolutions.
Free Tax Prep – AARP’s TaxAide will be at the Queen Anne Library again this year, every Wednesday from February 6th through April 10th. They’ve also added two Saturday sessions.
And more! Including piano & voice lessons, an apartment for rent, someone looking to rent a garage, and a free box spring. Feel free to check out the Forum – it’s for you, you can use it to post classifieds or start discussions …and we’ll keep fighting the spam, spammers love us!
What’s in the Forum?
Have you checked out the Forum lately? Well, here’s your friendly reminder about the Forum – it’s for you! It’s a venue for discussions among neighbors, local notices, items for sale, and more. All we ask is that you keep it friendly, and we’ll moderate the spam.
Here’s what’s new in the Forum:
Owl Attack – remember the owl attack on the Crown of Queen Anne? Well, a reader has posted a recent article on how owl attacks are fairly common this time of year. And, there are owls on Queen Anne – I passed 2 near the P-Patch, and kept a wary eye on them after the reader alert!
Nannies – we have two reader posts on nannies – one is looking for a Queen Anne family interested in a nanny share, and another is offering her services as a nanny including part-time child-care while you’re running errands or want some “me time”.
Stolen Bike – a Queen Anne resident’s bike was stolen, check the post for a description, and let the Forum know if you’ve experienced a bike (or other) theft recently.
And more! Check it out, start your own post, and weigh in on current posts.
What’s in the Forum This Week? Halloween Edition, Complete with Attack Owl!
A friendly Friday PSA to remind everyone about our Forum – it’s a venue for posting any questions you may have, lost & found items, missing pets, items for sale, and a heads-up on anything the community should be aware of (e.g. car prowls, suspicious persons, etc.).
We check the Forum daily, not just for spam, but also for any posts that should be highlighted on the blog. And, on that last point – here are some current Forum topics:
Owl Attack: a runner was attacked by an owl on the Crown of Queen Anne – coincidence that it’s nearly Halloween? Kidding aside, if you run or walk in the early morning or late evening near McGraw Place between Warren Ave N and Lorentz Place, there may be an attack owl nearby. If you’ve been a victim, weigh in!
Queen Anne Gym Deal: Seattle Gym on Queen Anne has a fall special with no enrollment fee and no monthly dues until Feb 1, 2013. Check out the details for more info.
Arts & Crafts Artists: the 4th annual Holiday Open House & Arts & Crafts Sale at Red Square Yoga is Dec 8th, and they have a few open slots for arts and crafts artists/vendors. Contact info is in the post.
And more! Check out the Forum, chime in on discussions of interest, and start your own topic!

Anybody missing a cat?
Jantos wrote in our forum about a neighborhood cat who seems to have lost its way.
We have a visiting cat around 4th Avenue N, between Howe and Newton, who seems to be lost. S/he is adult with a beautiful sable coat of black and tan. The cat is VERY vocal, does not have a collar, and seems well cared for. He has been hanging around our house (and sometimes invites himself in) for about two days, and we had seen him about two weeks prior to that. If you know where he belongs, or think I should post this elsewhere, reply to the post!
If anyone has any idea where this kitty’s home is, please respond in the forum.
