Pedalheads

Week-long bike safety and skills program for kids ages 3-12.

Set your child on the path to a lifelong love of riding! You’ll be amazed at how quickly your child picks up the skills to be safe and competent on their bike. From training wheels to trails, Pedalheads has safe, fun and challenging bike camps for children aged 3-12. Since 1995 we have taught over 200,000 children to ride, using our own Pedalheads teaching method, combined with small classes and exceptional instructors. With 50+ locations across Canada and the United States, our comprehensive program opens up a world of opportunities for a lifetime of cycling. We teach beginners right up to competent riders the skills they need to succeed on the trails and the streets.

Camps run Monday to Friday June-August. Choose between morning camps (9:30am to 12:00pm), afternoon camps (1:00pm to 3:30pm) or all-day Camps (9:00am to 4:00pm, at select locations). We also offer private lessons. There are several different programs to choose from, depending on your child’s age and skill level. Before and after care is available for all-day camps.

Summer Sail Camps in Ballard!

CYC (in partnership with Sail Sand Point) offers one-week sailing camps, a fun, safe way for kids to enjoy sailing. Kids get to unplug and connect to the natural world of water, wind, and waves. Young sailors build independence and character. Learning opportunities abound and lifetime friendships are made.

Our camps provide a well rounded curriculum filled with arts, science lessons, physical activity, games and nature exploration. Your child will participate in activities such as making a solar oven, re-purposing an old T-shirt, the ocean acidification science experiment, the endangered species treasure hunt, the high-tide low-tide game and more. We focus on both appreciation of our natural environment and reducing human impact.

Five years of happy campers have led us to expand our camps into new neighborhoods each year. Our staff is comprised of Washington State certified teachers and environmental science professionals. We are in our 6th year of holding summer camps!

Camp TechWise offers computer day-camps in Seattle for kids ages 8 – 16

Campers work on any projects they want to! Our staff will inspire them with tons of workshops to introduce new technologies. Campers are free to join any workshop or stay focused on their favorite project. Camp is very flexible and build around your camper!

Typical Topics:
Game design, digital music, video, digital photography, 3D animation, graphic arts, programming, website development, even virtual reality with Oculus and robotics workshops. We also have regular stretch breaks and outside sports and games. While these are typical, we will go where technology innovation and camper creativity takes us!

Camp WITS: Writers in the Summer

Join Seattle Arts & Lectures this summer at Camp WITS: Writers in the Summer! Enjoy two weeks of half-day creative writing workshops that focus on a range of techniques and genres, open to students entering 2nd through 12th grades. Camp WITS brings the inspiring and accomplished Seattle writers who teach comics, stories and poems in public schools throughout the year to the light-filled rooms of the School of Visual Concepts in downtown Seattle. Camp attendees will learn new ways to express their own authentic voices, join a community of young writers from across the city, create letterpress portfolios for their new work, and end the camps with a celebratory reading for family and friends. Camp WITS is open to all experience levels, and abilities, from new to seasoned writers. Sessions are taught by two acclaimed Seattle Arts & Lectures Writers-In-Residence and are limited to 20 students each.

Camp Wahoo! Wilderness Horse Camp

This is a unique horse camp for girls & boys ages 9-16. Campers get their own horse to care for and ride daily. The week culminates with a pack trip. Mule skills are taught and used to do an overnight trip to one of our out camps. Located at the base of the Stuart Mountain Range just outside Cle Elum, WA, about 90 minutes from Seattle. Art in Motion Camp Ages 5-7
In the words of Picasso, “Every child is an artist.” Art in Motion explores dance and art through the works of creative artists. Each day a new artist/style will be discovered. Students experience powerful connections between visual art and dance concepts. Be inspired by Claude Monet’s landscapes (Energy), Pablo Picasso’s portraits (Body Parts), Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflowers (Direction), Emily Carr’s paintings (Relationships), and Eric Carle’s collage (Shapes). Paint shirts are provided, but come prepared to work with paint and other messy art! CDC welcomes Sara Coiley back for another wonderful summer camp exploring Musical Theatre! The jungle is jumpin’ with a jazzy beat in Disney’s The Jungle Book. Follow Mowgli on a journey through song, dance, costumes, and creative sets with swingin’ musical rhythms of the jungle. This exciting camp features popular favorites such as “The Bare Necessities,” “I Wan’na Be Like You,” and “Colonel Hathi’s March.” Class includes a parent-provided snack and concludes with an informal mini-presentation of The Jungle Book for family and friends.

Hip Hop Camp Ages 6-9
Discover this exciting and fun dance style that moves and grooves to dynamic tempos and rhythms! Hip Hop dance camp will explore various street dance styles that developed from the vibrant culture of Hip Hop, through the lens of the concepts of dance. Dancers will learn movement vocabulary from breaking, locking, and popping, as well as commercial/new style, and House dance. The unique creative and imaginative qualities of each student will be celebrated as dance, theater, and performance skills are developed during this camp. Dance concepts come to life through a brain-compatible blend of BrainDance, movement combinations, partner work, improvisations, and choreography. UCDS Summer Camp Series

Are you creative and enthusiastic? Do you have varied interests? Then the UCDS Summer Camp Series is for you!

Sparklers Day Camps cater to our younger adventurers, 3-5 years old, providing them with a wide variety of fun indoor and outdoor activities. This summer our camp activities will be Unlocking the Mysteries of the World. We’ll conjure big ideas and examine the tiniest phenomena. Sparkler Campers will fill their days with imaginary play, sensational science experiments, amazing art and maybe even a few animal encounters. Each week offers a different adventure, so join us for another amazing summer of Sparkler Camps!

For students entering first through sixth grades, our collection of week-long, theme-focused camps have something for everyone! Whether it’s improv, cars, bookmaking or Chinese and Indian culture that spark your interest, UCDS Summer Camps run the gamut. Digital Photography Workshops for Teens

INTRO TO PHOTOGRAPHY (3 days) $300:
August 1-3 / August 8-10 / August 29-31 (Classes are from 12-4pm)
If you have never used a DSLR or own one and are curious about all the buttons on your camera, this workshop is for you. Over the course of 3 days we will talk about how your camera works and how the shutter and aperture work together. We will learn and shoot and shoot and learn so that you are able to use your camera and take amazing photos! DSLR cameras will be available for rent for $25 per day.

INTERMEDIATE COURSE (3 days) $300:
August 15-17 (Classes are from 12-4pm)
This is the sequel class to the Intro workshop. Students will already be comfortable with the camera features and understand shutter and aperture priority settings. We will explore composition, exposure value and rule of thirds. Your photographer will be able to orchestrate an image before hitting the shutter!

INTRO TO INTERMEDIATE BOOT CAMP (5 days) $500:
For the entire week of August 22-26 (Classes are from 12-4)
Spend the whole week learning and shooting at a continuous pace. Come to class with questions and leave with the confidence as a self-assured photographer.
