Seattle Animal Shelter Pet of the Week: Achilles

Pet of the Week

Hi, I’m Achilles and I’m around six years old. Don’t let my age fool you though, I have lots of playful spunk in me. I’m super sweet – I love all people and I want to say hi to everyone. I’ll be rubbing against you and sitting on your feet within seconds of meeting. I’m good on a leash, and if you walk fast you can keep up with me! I really like to smell things after I’ve gotten going on my walk.

I can get excited when I see cats outside, so it’s best I don’t live with them. Some dogs I pass outside make me nervous, but once I meet most dogs – as long as they are polite to me and we take a little time for some greetings – we get along well. I’d be perfectly happy to live with just humans or to share my home with another mellow and polite dog.

I’m a really sweet boy. I love my cuddles and pets. I don’t beg if not fed from the table. And I don’t steal food from counters or clothes pockets. I’m house trained and can be left for 8 hours. No need to crate me, I’m happy to chill out on my bed or the couch. I have occasionally been protective of my special toys or treats, though most of the time I’m quite happy to share with you, especially in exchange for a yummy treat. Young kids don’t always understand this, so it would be best if I live in a house with more mature kids. Come see my bright eyes and happy smile and you won’t be able to resist taking me home!

Achilles (SAS ID #30831638) is in a foster home; you won’t find him at the shelter. If you would like to meet him, you must first submit a Dog Adoption Application to SAS. Download the application (http://www.seattle.gov/animalshelter/forms) and follow the instructions for submitting via email or fax. Or you may pick up an application at the Shelter.

PLUS! The Seattle Animal Shelter is running a Home for the Holidays promotion: FREE 6 week class provided by award-winning dog trainers, sponsored by DEP Homes for all Seattle Animal Shelter dogs adopted this December! Here’s the info:

Home for the Holidays – FREE dog training: Thank you DEP Homes for helping shelter dogs find their forever homes this holiday season! DEP Homes are sponsoring a 6-week class and/or private one-on-one dog training and behavior consultation (up to a $289 value) for every Seattle Animal Shelter dog adopted in December.

Depending on the age and individual needs of your new canine family member, you will receive a non-transferable electronic gift card valued at $145-$289 to make sure you and your new family member are off to a great start! Dog training classes will be provided by local, award-winning professionals dedicated to creating happy family dogs that understand the rules of their home and are motivated to follow them. Their force-free dog training services include: * Puppy Socialization & Training to prevent problems early. * Adult Dog Training – dogs can learn at any age. * Rehabilitation of Aggression and other Problem Behaviors. The goal is to build up strong skills using rewards instead of focusing on punishment. Your electronic gift card will be sent to you via email provided during the adoption process within five business days
