The Shanty Cafe on Elliott Ave is closing for good on Monday, November 28th, after 102 years of service. It opened in 1914 and has remained a fixture at 350 Elliott Ave, thanks to current owners Ginger Crowley and Theresa Schmetzer, who purchased Shanty 19 years ago.

Now Crowley and Schmetzer are exiting the restaurant business and have sold the building. But, instead of selling to a developer, they sold it to another restaurant, El Charro Mexican Food and Cantina, which has a location in Kent.
