Lost Pets, Pet of the Week

petrey-and-odie-2The Seattle Animal Shelter currently has two sets of budgies looking for homes. Also known as parakeets, they are popular pet birds because of their sweet personalities, beautiful songs and variety of colorful feathers.

Budgies are usually easy to tame and some even learn to talk. They love music and will watch and listen to their humans.

petrey-and-odie-1Petrey and Odie – this brightly colored pair of best friends are curious, active and fun! These boys had a bit of a rough start with their previous owner not having a lot of time for them. So they learned to rely on each other.

But with love, care and kindness, they will make wonderful companions for a lucky adopter out there.

tatum-1Tatum and Sugar – This beautiful pair will brighten your day with their antics. Tatum is a beautiful blue, white and black male bird, and Sugar is a stunning white female.

Budgies can live from 5 to 10 years so please be prepared for a commitment upon adoption.

sugar-1They are happiest when kept in pairs or small groups in a large cage or habitat with plenty of toys to chew and climb. They mostly eat pelleted bird food, seeds and a small bit of greens. Any dietary changes should be introduced slowly. Budgies require a clean and fresh supply of water.

You can find these birds in the Shelter’s Critter Room. Stop on by and meet them!
