We first wrote about Sharon Fillingim’s new post-Grub venture in June, when the spot next to Five Corners Hardware was getting the first taste of its new facelift. Now, final touches like custom windows and an 8’ glass door are all that’s left to complete the transformation of the 1950 building at 307 W McGraw St. Sharon plans to open Bite Box at the end of October.

bite-box-burgerIn the meantime, amidst construction chaos, Sharon has been busy crafting a menu for Bite Box, which is billed as “fast casual fare” for neighborhood breakfasts and lunches. The staff has already been privy to a taste test of menu items like Millet Cobb salad, burger w/oxtail ragu, and pecan pie Belgian waffle.

The menu also features some gluten-free items, daily house-made soups, and options to add protein to salads. Plus, you can expect a few specials, some familiar to Grub fans and some new ones too. Beverages range from Portland’s Heart Coffee to sake bloody Marys, mimosas, wine, and local beer.

According to Sharon:

“My objective and vision was to design a space for business luncheons and meetings to the businesses around me, as well as my fellow neighbors. The current menu will be offered all day on the days we’re open. I hope that my customers will feel that Bite Box is similar to smaller cafes in various neighborhoods found not only in Seattle but throughout other cities. With a smaller menu and space, I’m able to keep it personal, something that is very important to me.”

If the construction schedule stays on track, expect Bite Box to be open by the end of the month. You can see the new, warm and inviting interior in the photo from Bite Box’s Facebook page to the right. Stop by and welcome Sharon back to the Queen Anne restaurant roster!
