citizen6-logoIf you’re a fan of either Citizen or Number 6 Cider, you’ll be happy to learn that the owners of the two Queen Anne businesses have joined forces to create Citizen Six, a new restaurant housed in the Number 6 Cider taproom. Citizen Six will feature all of the Citizen menu favorites and more, as it’ll have a bigger menu in the new, larger location.

Citizen has operated at its 706 Taylor Ave N location for seven years, and during its tenure (no fear, it’s staying put), Number 6 Cider owner Tom Todaro was a regular customer. When he decided he needed someone to run the dining room at Number 6 Cider, he looked to Citizen owner Suzana Omos. Omos has joined Todaro as a managing partner and Citizen Six opens to the public on March 1st.

citizen6-interiorAs a younger sibling restaurant, Citizen Six will actually be the bigger of the two It’ll have seating for 60 people and serve Number 6 Ciders on tap, local beers, and wine by the glass. With 8 of the seats at the bar, bar manager Scott Rixe (formerly of Zhu Dang) will offer a full cocktail menu that includes new cider cocktails.

What can you expect menu-wise?

‘Like Citizen, the menu at Citizen Six will be a nod to Suzana’s heritage: She’s half Mexican, half Korean. Don’t be surprised to see some familiar Citizen influences on the menu, like the “Korexican” tacos – tender, marinated strips of Bulgogi beef, spicy cucumber mix, caramelized onions and Mexican cheese piled on a fresh, local flour tortilla, served with housemade green salsa verde, black beans and sriracha mayo – an homage to her mother’s comfort cooking. “It’s just savory food, and it’s just a beautiful fusion,” says Suzana. “They’re flavors that I grew up with.” Citizen Six will offer a more expansive food menu than its sibling.‘

According to Suzana: “You can come here to get a hamburger or a Bulgogi beef hamburger with fries. There’s something for everyone, including non-adventurous eaters.”

Mark your calendars for March 1st, when Citizen Six opens. You can find them inside the Number 6 Cider taproom at 945 Elliott Ave W. Stop by to say congrats to not one, but two local businesses!
