Queen Anne Greenways meets tonight and the topic of the meeting is creating a Play Street on Queen Anne this summer. While summer may seem distant, planning and gathering input from the community takes time. Everyone is invited to join tonight’s meeting, which is at Bayview Retirement Center (11 W Aloha) from 6:30pm to 7:45pm.

Screen Shot 2016-01-26 at 8.46.34 AMThe open discussion will be led by a Queen Anne Greenways member who’s excited to help plan a day of summer activities and play for kids and those young at heart. Play Streets were piloted by the city of Seattle last year, here’s the city’s description of Play Streets:

“A play street closes a neighborhood street to traffic so that kids (and adults) can have more space for play and physical activity. School play streets provide additional space for recess or other special activities, like a field day. Community play streets help neighbors create more space for play during the summer or after school.”

If you have ideas for a Play Street, be sure to attend tonight’s meeting, and think summer!
