Seattle Animal Shelter Pet of the Week: Mia

Pet of the Week

Meet the very special Mia!

Mia 1Mia is a young (11 months), very small (3 ½ lbs.) white female Chihuahua with freckles on her tiny nose, and huge brown eyes. Her front leg was recently amputated due to a severe injury but it hasn’t slowed her down a bit. She runs, plays and goes up and down stairs with ease and speed. You can watch a short video of her here – look at that tail go!

When Mia arrived at her foster home she was withdrawn and shy. With the help of the small dogs in the home, and patience from her foster parent, she has really blossomed. She is now alert and engaged, and loves being part of the action. She also loves sitting on laps and snuggling.

Mia 2With her small size, it would be best for Mia to be in an adults only home. She would like not being left alone for long periods, and would likely do well with another small dog in the home after some introduction. Mia loves her bed and sleeps through the night. She knows how to “sit” and is learning the “wait” command. She uses pee pads regularly. Sometimes she whimpers a bit, but is not a barker so she would be very appropriate for apartment or condo living.

Mia (SAS ID #30369433 is being adored in a foster home, she is not at the Shelter. If you would like to meet her, you must submit a Dog Adoption Application to SAS. Download the application and follow the instructions for submitting it via email or fax. Or, you may pick up and drop off an application at the Shelter.
