Video Isle darkUPDATE: Video Isle is closing for good, the owner commented on our post as follows:

“Queen Anne is moving our inventory to our Fremont location. We have had a good run here on Queen Anne for almost 30 years. Competing with streaming, increases in rent, lack of parking and the computer issues we recently had there is no better time than now to make this merge and save Video Isle, Inc.”

Three weeks ago, the lights at Video Isle went dark. A sign appeared on the door, citing a system problem at the Queen Anne location. Customers were directed to visit the Fremont location, meanwhile, DVD returns spilled onto the floor.

We’ve tried to contact the owner of Video Isle, but haven’t received a response. Neither has the Queen Anne Chamber.

Video Isle signRumors are now running rampant, with readers questioning if the old-school video rental shop will open again, or if it’s shuttered for good. We’ve also heard from readers that an increase in rent could be an issue.

Video Isle’s ownership was transferred to Tonya Perfect in February 2014, when longtime owner Craig Wilson retired after 28 years and moved to a warmer climate.

Without confirmation, we can’t say for sure if Video Isle will turn the dressing room mirror lights back on in the storefront at 2213 Queen Anne Ave N. NOTE: now confirmed, Video Isle will remain dark.
