Slip and Slide fans brace yourselves: the giant water slide that was slated to take over Mercer St on August 16th has been cancelled. The event organizers apparently ran into problems with Health Department permits, and have had to scrap the whole show.
The organizers hope to bring the giant slide to Seattle next year, and promise it’ll be bigger and better than what they’d planned for this year. That’s a tall order, as the slide was going to run along Mercer Street from Warren Ave N to 4th Ave N.
Slide the City also cancelled other planned slides in Spokane and the Tri-Cities, due to the same WA state Health Department permit issues.
Upside? No traffic snarls from the Slide next weekend.
