Meet Mama & Sydney!

Mama (female/yellow) and Sydney (male/grey) are a bonded pair of friendly and well-socialized cockatiels.

Cockatiels are intelligent and active birds; they enjoy attention from their human friends, and need a spacious cage with multiple perches and lots of toys to keep them busy.

Mama Sydney 1They should be fed a high quality pellet such as Harrison’s or ZuPreem Natural Avian Maintenance, and have access to fresh water at all times.

Cockatiels also enjoy a variety of healthy treats like fresh fruits, vegetables, cooked pasta, cooked brown rice, and cooked legumes. (But DO NOT FEED them avocado – it’s poisonous to cockatiels.)

Potential adopters should research a full list of safe and toxic foods prior to bringing a new pet bird home. As with all birds, cockatiels require regular checkups at an exotic vet.

Mama Sydney 2With good care and lots of love, cockatiels can live 20 or more years.

Mama and Sydney (SAS ID #15-3391-1 & 2) must be adopted together, and are good candidates for a first-time bird owner. They are currently being lavished with attention in a foster home and are not at the Shelter.

If you’re interested in adopting this charming pair, please call the foster care hotline at (206) 684-0685, or email sasfostercritters@gmail.com.
