Local News, Pet of the Week

On Fridays [Sunday this week due to travel and getting sick while on said travel – yuck.] we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Tuesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Iggy Azalea (snuggly iguana) – available for adoption
Folson (charming tabby cat) – available for adoption
Goldie (glamorous orange and white feline) – available for adoption
Mama (dedicated lap cat) – available for adoption
Thea (black and white kitty) – available for adoption
Pumpkin (orange tabby kitty) – available for adoption
Buttercup (hippity hoppity bunny) – available for adoption

Meet Slate!

Slate 2Slate is a pretty boy with luscious blue-gray fur and golden eyes. He was a stray taken in by a caring woman who couldn’t keep him because she had three other cats. Slate was most likely feral originally, but quickly learned to love the human touch. His caretaker was able to groom him twice a day, which he loved (and still does!) We don’t know his age, but he is probably a middle age adult. The vet says he is not particularly old.

Slate is very healthy, but he is FIV positive (FIV=Feline Immunodeficiency virus), which means he had mostly likely been bitten by another FIV+ cat in his past life as a stray on the streets. (He is not an aggressive cat, though.) FIV+ cats can typically live normal lives both in quality and duration, when they have loving and caring homes. He should be an only cat, or only live with another FIV+ cat.

Slate 1Slate is very healthy and happy now, but he arrived at the Shelter with some gum disease and bad teeth that have been extracted (thanks to charitable donations to the SASF “Help the Animals Fund”). He has 4 teeth left, and that doesn’t stop him from having a great appetite, or slow him down in any way!

Today, Slate is an avid lap-sitter and loves playtime, as well as being groomed, petted and scratched with a back-scratcher.

He likes watching TV, especially if there are birds on the screen he can swat at! Just check out this fun video of him:

Slate is being lavished with love and pets in a foster home. Please call Deb at (206) 234-7739 for more information about Slate and to make arrangements to meet him.
