Homegrown extIf you tried to get a sandwich from Homegrown on Sunday, you likely found the shop on the corner of Queen Anne Ave N and Boston St closed due to an incident on Saturday night.

At 7pm on Saturday night, Homegrown was the victim of a robbery at gunpoint. No customers were in the store at the time, but obviously, it was a scary incident for the Homegrown staff – and we’ve had several readers write us to inquire about the incident.

SPD has an open investigation on the robbery, with no details on the suspect to share. However, Homegrown founder Ben Friedman shared the following with us:

“Homegrown’s Queen Anne store was robbed at gun-point at 7pm on Saturday evening. At the time of the robbery, no customers were present. While thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, we are providing our staff with free counseling to help cope with any trauma. It’s pretty scary stuff.

We greatly appreciate the neighborhood’s support. Our Queen Anne store reopened on Monday to much fanfare, melty cheese and heaping organic greens.”

Let’s hope that this crime is an isolated incident.

Note: Apologies for the poor image quality, but I’m currently traveling and the image is from Google Maps.
