Einstein closingLooks like we’ll have another vacant storefront on Queen Anne Ave N. Einstein Bros Bagels has posted a sign stating that the store will be closing on Tuesday, February 24th. No additional information is provided on the sign, and no response to email inquiries yet.

The spot at 2133 Queen Anne Ave N is prime real estate. However, no lease listings have shown up for the space yet. And, retail and restaurant space is currently available at The Towne, the old Charley+May building, and the Communique shop (which, as a reminder, is closing next month).

UPDATE: here’s the official statement from Einstein Bros Bagels:

“After careful evaluation, Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. (“ENRGI”) has come to the difficult decision to close 39 underperforming restaurants, effective Tuesday, February 24, 2015. The company will continue to focus on its high-performing restaurants to ensure the future growth and success of the business. ENRGI values the continued support of its customers, and the dedication and hard work of all its employees.”

If you’re an Einstein Bros Bagels fan, the next closest location is at 2201 Westlake Ave in South Lake Union. Or, if you want to stay on Queen Anne, Eltana Bagels has a location in the Seattle Center, as well as a location in Wallingford.
