Pet of the Week

On Fridays (Saturday this week due to travel) we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Tuesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Taco (young Chi/Basenji mix looking for an experienced home) – available for adoption
Iggy Azalea (snuggly iguana) – available for adoption

Meet Charles & Raymond

Charles (sable) and Raymond (cream/sable) are a wonderful pair of male ferrets. These two were surrendered to the shelter when their owner had to move out of the country. Charles and Raymond are so much fun!! They are super high-energy, friendly and playful. If you need some fun and excitement in your life, Charles and Raymond would be great new friends for you. This pair is well-socialized and will delight you with their antics. Charles and Raymond are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.

More about pet ferrets: Ferrets need a large multi-level cage or enclosure with hammocks to snuggle in and towels to burrow under and nest in. Ferrets are very good litter box users and should be provided with a regularly-cleaned litter box. (Most litters are safe for ferrets; however, do not use cedar or pine shavings, or clay-based cat litters.)

Ferrets need to be fed a high-quality ferret kibble (Zupreem or Mazuri brands are good choices), and have access to fresh water at all times. Ferrets have A LOT of energy and love to play; your ferrets will need daily free-play time in a ferret-safe area of your home, so they can run around, chase each other, and play. Ferrets often like to chase/play with cat toys.

There is a low fee to adopt a ferret from the Seattle Animal Shelter; however, you are expected to make a lifetime commitment to your adopted ferrets. The primary caregiver must be a responsible adult, and your ferrets should be treated as an integral part of the family. Your ferrets will also need regular nail trims and vet checks. With good care and lots of love, ferrets can live to be 6-10 years old.

Charles and Raymond (SAS ID #15-000210-1 & 2) are at the Shelter waiting to meet you!
