Next Saturday, July 12th is going to be a busy day on Queen Anne! Three signature Queen Anne events happen in one day – the Queen Anne Fun Run/Walk in the morning, Queen Anne Days following it with a merchant sidewalk sale and festival at the Queen Anne Community Center, and the Queen Anne Running of the Bulls around midday.

Here’s the rundown for the Fun Run and Queen Anne Days – note that both events need volunteers! Check out the post on the Queen Anne Running of the Bulls for details on it.

Queen Anne Fun Run/Walk

QA Fun Run Kerry Crowd 2The annual 3.3 mile run/walk benefits the Queen Anne Helpline and is open to all ages. Families, individuals, serious runners, and casual walkers are welcome. Last year, the female winner ran with a stroller (infant on board)!

The route circles the Crown of Queen Anne, so the views are spectacular. From tree-lined streets to city views to sound views, the route has it all.

The starting line is at 5th Ave W and W Halladay St. Start time for walkers is 8am, runners at 8:20am. If you haven’t registered already, you can do so online for $35, or day of the race in-person for $40. All proceeds benefit the Helpline!

QA Fun Run best hat judgingThe finish line is at 7th Ave W and Wheeler St, right in front of Coe Elementary. But, don’t stop there! After you’ve crossing the finish line, head over to Queen Anne Lutheran Church on 8th Ave W and W McGraw for the award ceremony. Awards and prizes will be given out for the following categories:

  • First place runners: male and female adult
  • First place runners: male and female 12 and under
  • First place: for the fastest runner from a team
  • Most creative hat: you can get crazy here!

Plus, drawings for prizes and gifts from local Queen Anne merchants!

Call for Volunteers: Crossing Guards (ages 16+) are still needed to ensure the safety of all the walkers and runners, and race start/finish volunteers are also needed. Please contact Ann at 206-284-0604 and visit the Helpline’s volunteer page to complete a volunteer application.

Queen Anne Days

The annual neighborhood celebration is going to be even bigger this year! The two-day event spans the weekend (Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13), taking over Big Howe Park on Saturday from noon-4pm for music, food trucks, carnival booths, car show, kiddie parade, and bouncy houses. Then, on both Saturday and Sunday, the merchant Sidewalk Sale runs up and down Queen Anne Ave N.

QA Kiddie Parade SigFirst event on tap post-Fun Run is the Kiddie Parade. Get your kiddos, dogs, decorated wagons, trikes, and bikes, and line up at 1st Ave W and Crockett St, in front of McClure Middle School at 10:30am. Costumes welcome! The parade starts at 11am and makes its way to Big Howe Park by noon. No need to register, just show up and have fun!

Both the Queen Anne Community Center and Queen Anne Helpline benefit from the funds raised at Queen Anne Days, so come out next weekend to celebrate the neighborhood and support our community!

Call for Volunteers: Queen Anne Days needs volunteers! Check out the volunteer positions and sign up online.

Here’s the list of food trucks and bands that’ll be at Big Howe next Saturday:

Food Trucks: How Pickle Got out of a JamI Love my GFF, Seattle Wood Fired Pizza, Mad Dawg Hot Dogs, Street TreatsSix Strawberries
