Little Howe Wading PoolHappy first day of summer! The kids are out of school, the sun is shining, and it’s time for the Little Howe wading pool to open for the season. The city continues its water conservation effort this year, so the wading pool will only be open 3 days per week.

The city encourages residents to use the wading pool instead of kiddie pools or sprinklers at home.  According to their analysis, “if 50 families used the East Queen Anne wading pool (rather than filling their home wading pools) the water saved would equal that needed to fill the public wading pool, which would serve a lot more than 50 kids!”

The city will open Little Howe wading pool on sunny days when the temperature is forecast to be 70 degrees or higher. On the busiest days, the pool will be filled completely, otherwise it will be half-full to save water.

The Little Howe (aka East Queen Anne) wading pool will be open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Sundays from noon to 7pm through August 17th. The pool is at Little Howe Park, on Warren Ave N between Howe and Crockett Streets. Monday’s forecast predicts a high of 77 and sunny, so opening day at the wading pool will be a warm one!
