Seattle Animal Shelter Pet of the Week: Sookie

December 28th, 2013 by Laura

On Fridays we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Wednesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.

Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.

Meet the lovely Sookie!

Sookie 2013-12-26 1She is an 8lb sweet fur ball with perfect litter box skills. She can keep her fur fluffy and soft on her own, but she just loves to be brushed and have her neck scratched behind her ears.

Her favorite time of day to play and have affection is in the evening. She will certainly let you know when it is time to pet her with a gentle paw tap and head bonk.

Sookie 2013-12-26 3Her favorite place to sleep is under the bed during the day as it is dark and warm. When you come home she will come out when called and ask for snuggles and attention. Her favorite toy is a thick rubber band which she will fling and chase after. She loves to sit by the window all day and watch the birds fly by.

Sookie’s former home was with a single adult who had to move and could not take her along. She would prefer a calm, mature home, but older children would be okay. Just no dogs, please.

Sookie 2013-12-26 2This wonderful cat qualifies for the Seniors for Seniors program: senior citizens or disabled adults with a “Gold Card for Healthy Aging” or a “FLASH” card, issued by the City of Seattle, may adopt an older cat (at least six years old) at a special price. There will be no fee for the adoption itself, and the licensing fee will be half-price!

Sookie (SAS ID #12-330) is being lavished with attention in a foster home, she is not at the Shelter. If you would like to meet her, please call the Foster Care Hotline at 206-684-0685 to arrange a meeting.
