Remember the Mercer/99 closure that was cancelled due to weather? Well, it’s back on for tomorrow night (Tuesday, September 17) and Wednesday night (September 18).
SDOT is planning a nighttime closure of northbound SR 99/Aurora and Mercer Street between 5th Ave N and Ninth Ave N for Tuesday, September 17, and an additional nighttime closure for Mercer on Wednesday, September 18.
Tuesday, September 17
- Northbound SR 99 and Mercer St will be fully closed to traffic beginning Tuesday, September 17 at 10pm through Wednesday, September 18 at 5:30am.
- Northbound SR 99 will be fully closed between the southern end of the Battery St Tunnel and Valley St.
- Mercer St will be fully closed to traffic between 5th Ave N and 9th Ave N.
- No pedestrian access will be allowed on Mercer St between 5th Ave N and Dexter Ave N during the closure. Pedestrians will need to use the sidewalk on the north side of Broad Street to cross SR 99.
- Southbound SR 99, Broad Street, and the I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer will remain open.
Wednesday, September 18
- Mercer Street will be fully closed to traffic beginning Wednesday, September 18, at 10pm through Thursday, September 19 at 5:30am.
- Mercer St will be fully closed to traffic between 5th Ave N and Dexter Ave N.
- No pedestrian access will be allowed on Mercer St between 5th Ave N and Dexter Ave N during the closure. Pedestrians will need to use the sidewalk on the north side of Broad Street to cross SR 99.
- Westbound Mercer St, Broad St, and the I-5 on- and off-ramps at Mercer St will remain open.
Per SDOT, expect significant traffic and delays; plan ahead and use alternate routes.
