Seattle Animal Shelter Pet of the Week: Bentley
Posted on June 29th, 2013 by Editor
Each week, we feature an adoptable pet from the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). SAS is located at 2061 15th Ave W, just north of Whole Foods, at the corner of W. Armory Way. SAS is open Wednesday – Sunday, noon-6pm.
Queen Anne View has not met any of these pets – SAS is providing us with the description, as they know them well. We encourage potential adopters to get in touch with SAS and work with them to evaluate the compatibility of your home and a new pet.
Bentley is one great dog! He came to the shelter only because his previous guardian no longer had stable housing – he was well-loved and well-taken care of and it shows.
At just nine months old, he’s still a pup with puppy exuberance, but not overly so. He’s an athletic, shepherd mix who loves fetch, hikes, jogs and trips to the park. And of course hanging out with his humans! Being in the shelter had him a little down, but even so his tail nearly fell off with all the wagging it did! His happy spirit won’t be suppressed.
Bentley is pretty much a dream puppy – he’s housetrained, is good with pretty much every other dog he meets, is ok with cats (with supervision), is great with kids, isn’t jumpy or mouthy like some pups can be, and already knows sit, down and stay. He’s used to staying home alone in a bedroom for about six hours a day while his previous guardian was at work. Whew! That’s a long list of great qualities!
His ideal home will have a bit of prior dog experience and be fairly active – daily exercise is a must! Because of his young age and exuberance, it is preferable that any children in his new home be at least six years old.
Since he’s still a youngster, he’ll benefit from further training with his new family – it’s also a great way to bond with your new dog! Bentley fancies himself a lap dog and soaks up (and returns) affection. Come meet this handsome pup with the gorgeous brindle coat and sparkling brown eyes!
Bentley (SAS #13-6350) is enjoying life in a SAS foster home. If you would like to meet him, you must first submit a Dog Adoption Application to SAS. Download the application and follow the instructions for submission via email or fax, or you may drop it off at the Shelter. If you have general questions about this dog, you may call the Shelter’s Animal Care Staff at 206-386-4294.
