Crows attacking at Bigelow & Newton

Crows Bigelow NewtonA reader wrote to us today to warn Queen Anne residents about some very protective crows just south of Bigelow Ave N and Newton St. They have been swooping and attacking people, and when I headed over this afternoon for a photo, sure enough, they’re attacking people.

Today there is an injured crow on the ground, and anyone on the west side of the sidewalk near it was a prime target. So, if you run or walk the Crown, stick to the other side of the road. Even without an injured crow nearby, crows can be very protective of their nests this time of year.

You can read more about crow season in this article from the Seattle Times – it’s a few years old, but the crows haven’t changed their habits. And, if you know of other areas to be wary of, let everyone know in the comments section. Bigelow is apparently notorious for crow attacks, per the USPS carrier who delivers mail to Bigelow residents (and has been attacked numerous times).
