Several key changes to Metro Transit will take place starting tomorrow – check out Metro’s online guide for the planned changes as well as updated schedule and route changes.

Queen Anne routes affected starting tomorrow are listed below – links will take you to the timetable for each:

Route 2E is now 29: Route 29 will operate the same route as former Route 2E south of W McGraw St but will be extended to NW Market St & 28th Ave NW in Ballard via 3rd Ave W, W Nickerson St, Leary Ave NW and NW Market St. Also, southbound trips to downtown Seattle will operate on 2nd Ave instead of 3rd Ave.

Route 4: On Saturday in the early morning and late evening, and all day Sunday, Route 4 will not operate the West Raye St loop via Queen Anne Ave N, W Raye St, 2nd Ave W and W McGraw St. Also on weekends, one southbound trip to Judkins Park via First Hill leaving 3rd Ave & Union St at 5:37 am will be added.

New RapidRide D Line: replaces portions of Route 15 between Crown Hill and downtown Seattle via Ballard, Interbay, Uptown, the Seattle Center and Belltown.

Other Changes:
– Elimination of the Ride Free Area
– Pay-on-Entry: all riders will pay a fare as they board on all routes

Metro encourages people to pay with ORCA cards:

“The easiest, fastest and most cost-effective way to pay a transit fare is by tapping a pre-loaded ORCA card. ORCA offers many advantages, including ease of use, built-in transfers and the ability to manage your account.”
