Mass media is teaching another generation that a woman’s primary value is in her youth, beauty and sexuality – not in her capacity as a leader, making it difficult for women to obtain leadership positions and for girls to reach their full potential. Director Jennifer Siebel Newsom looks at the media message through interviews with Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Gloria Steinem, and more.

New & Continuing Film Runs:
Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best, NEW, September 28-October 4
A struggling indie rocker and his eccentric bandmate embark on a tender and unpredictable musical road comedy as they bring a unique style to unsuspecting new fans—the sound of children’s instruments.

Samsara, Continuing through October 4
Filmed over a period of almost 5 years and in 25 countries, Samsara transports viewers to sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial sites, and natural wonders. Samsara has no dialogue or text, instead it encourages inner interpretations inspired by images and music that infuses the ancient with the modern.

Liberal Arts, Continuing through October 4
Dreaming of his halcyon days in college, a  35-year-old liberal arts college graduate jumps at the chance to return to his small, Midwestern alma mater. Back on campus, he forms bonds with a spastic stoner, a sardonic literature instructor, a troubled young bookworm, and a spirited sophomore who shares his passions for the liberal arts.
