New restaurant Cloves opens on Mercer

May 17th, 2012 by Cory Bergman

A new Indonesian restaurant has moved into Lower Queen Anne/Uptown. Cloves quietly opened two weeks ago next to Easy Street Records on Mercer St. — in the same space as the old Wanna Noodle — and it’s holding a grand opening celebration tonight (Thursday) and again on Saturday night.

The menu features such diverse dishes as Javasese fried chicken, corn fritters, ox tail soup, spicy king prawns, Indonesia fried rice and the house special: fried frog leg. For dessert, you can order Ice Cendol, an iced green gelatin served with Jackfruit (a kind of mulberry) in coconut milk.

For the grand opening, the band Kulintang will play live Indonesian tunes, beginning at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday. (Thanks Mark for the tip!)
