Queen Anne Avenue North closed to sledders?

Well, sort of, says one reader, Valerie, who wrote that just after 3:30 p.m., she watched “four police officers tape off the hill under Prospect Avenue leaving a gaggle of would-be sledders hanging around wondering what the purpose of that was.”

Valerie told police that the public safety hazard aspect of sledding on the hill today was not at the top of the Queen Anne Avenue North, but at the bottom, where she saw one guy sled out in front of cars crossing the intersection at Roy Street. “There were no police down there, where they could do some good.” She disagreed with the police’s strategy. She said it was “frustrating, as there is some good they could be doing right now, rather than just spoiling everyone’s fun on a snow day.”
