Two recent car prowls reported in Interbay area

Car prowls are not an uncommon occurrence for Queen Anne-ers, but one reader, Kevin Smith, has noticed an uptick in incidents in the Interbay area recently. He writes:
Last week, my work truck was broken in to, the back door lock and latch was completely destroyed. Nothing was stolen, no tools, ladders, nothing. I think the prowlers were after spooled wire. Coming out to my truck this morning, I saw that another vehicle was broken in to. This time, it was a Chevy HHR work vehicle, belonging to a security (construction) company. I can only assume that they were after wire also with this break in, but I didn’t go close enough to the rig to see inside.
Kevin says both prowls happened on 14th Ave W, right next to Gilman Drive W. And according to the Seattle Police Department’s neighborhood crime map, in the last week alone there have been four reported care thefts, and another four prowls in the Queen Anne area. Remember to keep an eye out for suspicious activity in the neighborhood to help prevent you and your neighbors from becoming a prowl target.

There were also some car prowls in Magnolia on Wednesday night in an area with limited access… I hate locking everything all the time but it seems to be a requirement. When I worked in Pioneer Square my rule was nothing showing in the car at all, no coat, no shoes, nothing at all—that is now my rule in Magnolia. If you see something do something, know your neighbors and look out for the elderly in your area they are most vulnerable to criminal activity.

It is horrible all the car break ins and stolen vehicles! 2 weeks ago on Taylor and Ward there was a group of skin heads taking pictures of the area and cars and doing a drug deal in broad daylight…I called the police to have them do extra patrol and unfortunately with McGinn cut backs and wanting to cut back more we are going to hurt people!!!! This is ridiculous that McGinn can hire Heller and pay him so much money and then cut back on our police force!!!! What is going on Seattle???? Who runs this city anyway????? Everyone needs to watch out for eachother because no one else will be watching over us! I am sick of McGinn…where do I sign up for recalling him??????
