Club Diamond in Lower Queen Anne, across the street for the Seattle Center and the EMP, was forced to shut down last month due to a debt of approximately $200,000 in past rent, according to a report by SeattleCrime.com. The Club, police say, has been the site of a number of gang related incidents, including shootings, fights, robberies, and more over the past year. From SeattleCrime:

The club has shut down because they owe rent,” says Bennett Tse, attorney for the property owner. “We pursued eviction action and they surrendered the property voluntarily.”

Tse says club shut down around May 9th after the property owners sued the club’s owners for approximately $200,000 in back rent.

According to Tse, criminal problems at and around the club didn’t play any part in the eviction. “We inform the club owner to have do whatever it needs to meet the police requirements, but we don’t involve ourselves in management of the club,” he says.

According to Tse, it’s possible that the building at 5th and Harrison could once again become a nightclub, but he wouldn’t be surprised if the city contested against another club opening there. Both Club Diamond and its predecessor, Level 5, have had problems at that location.
