Seattle City Light has scheduled a planned power outage at the Seattle Center Campus beginning at 11:59 p.m. tonight, Sunday, May 23 trought approximately 7 a.m. tomorrow, Monday, May 24. The 7-hour outage will allow City Light crews to make necessary repairs within one of its system vaults that affects Seattle Center and the surrounding area.

The affected outage area is the same as the recent planned outage on April 22nd.  It is bordered by: Mercer Street to the North; Denny Way to the South;  5th Avenue N to the East; and 1st Avenue N to the West.

According to City Light, all Seattle Center campus customers and off-campus customers that reside on the perimeter of Seattle Center and will be affected by the outage should have already received notification letters regarding the outage.

This outage is the first of several planned for this summer to replace cables and connectors needed to keep the Seattle Center area in satisfactory condition.

The long term plan is to look for another feeder to supply this part of our system for even greater reliability. We will also be installing state of the art automated switches that will allow us to isolate various parts of the system while continuing to supply power to our customers from different configurations, thus minimizing power outages to our customers.

If you have any questions, please contact Seattle City Light Customer Care Director Kelly Enright at (206) 684-3111 or kelly.enright@seattle.gov.
