This weekend you can dine and ‘Shop Local‘, all while supporting Queen Anne neighborhood schools. All day on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15 participating merchants and businesses at the top of the hill will be donating 10 percent of their sales back to the school of your choice – John Hay, Coe, Seattle Country Day, St. Anne’s, or McClure Middle School. Meaning the more pre-holiday shopping you do, the more money goes back into the schools and families in the community. This event is being organized by the Upper Queen Anne Merchants Association. See a list of participating merchants here.
This event is in support of the 3/50 Project, a national organization dedicated to helping communities revitalize their local economies. The entire foundation? Pick three independently owned, local businesses that you don’t want to see go and spend $50 each month to keep them alive.
Quick local fact from the site: $68 out of every $100 spent locally comes back to the community via taxes, payroll, etc. Spend that same $100 at a national chain and only $43 comes back. Spend online and zero comes back to the community. More information here.

I just wish they'd use correct grammar and say “Shop Locally”.

Maybe, but you get about twice as much.
