Your City Light bill is going up
Submitted by KOMO Staff on Thursday, November 12th, 11:35am
Still reeling from a recent power outate? Get this: The Seattle City Council voted 5-4 today to increase City Light rates 13.8 percent effective January 1.

KOMO's Bryan Johnson reports that council members said the increase was necessary to preserve the utility's bond rating, to make repairs, and to close a budget deficit.

The rate increase will affect all Seattle customers.

This morning was awful; I don't know how others were able to wake up without their alarm clocks but I overslept. Late for work? Yep.
This is the fourth power outage within the last couple of months around Queen Anne. I just moved to lower Queen Anne about 1 year ago after living for 16 years in Capitol Hill; I don’t remember power outages happening this frequently on the Hill--- what's up with QA?

Well, the article says lower QA, but I live on Upper QA. Way up McGraw & 6th.
We had no power either. I have lived on the top of the hill since 2001 and September was the first time I remember losing power. Here's what City Light has to say about it.

"About 6,656 customers have recovered power this morning after a brief outage affecting Seattle Center and Queen Anne. The cause is believed to be failed underground switch. About 156 customers remain without power around Seattle Center. The outage began at about 5 a.m. and at one point included large portions of Queen Anne affecting 6,800 customers."

Thanks for the info. I live at 3rd W and Roy and woke up to it out at 5:15. It came back right before I headed out the door at about 5:40 - was nice to be able to iron quickly!
