Repeat car prowls target Queen Anne

October 29th, 2009 · 2 Comments

One of our readers, John, wrote in to report three recent car prowls in the seemingly secure parking lot of his east Queen Anne apartment building. He wrote,

I am a resident in the Domaine apartments that here on Queen Anne. I am writing you an email today to tip you off on some recent car prowls and thefts we have had in our “secure” garage.

In the past 10 days we have had 3 car break ins and one car stolen out of the garage. These people have been very professional as the cars were slim jimmed or lock picked to steal out items. There were no smashed windows.

My car was hit on early Monday morning and they stole all 4 rims and tires and put my suv on blocks.

Thought I would let you know. If you have heard more about this in the area, people should be aware to be on the look out and to keep any valuables with them.

Burglaries have been an all too frequent occurrence on the hill lately. Read our crime update earlier this month for more information on what you can do to avoid being burgled. If you’ve noticed any suspicious activities on the hill recently, email us at tips@queenanneview.com.

I was just reading this article and wanted to comment…car thefts on QA are very common. I am a resident manager of an apartment complex on Taylor Avenue and we get hit about every three months or so in most cases breaking of the glass and rummaging through and taking anything they can find and stealing vehicles! My fiance has had his car stolen 4 times! Each time recovered! They are professionals and his car had the “club” on the steering wheel as well. No broken glass they just come in to the night and take what isn't theirs. I believe in some case it is punks that just want a car to use. This last time that it was stolen in December found at end of January he decided NO MORE and bought a new car with Lo Jack and security.

My problem is that there is not much that the police will do…they don't fingerprint and often laugh at the mention saying that they have bigger fish to fry which I am sure they do but robbery is robbery to me and I believe that Seattle Police should do something about tightening up on car thefts in the QA area it is horrible.
