Uptown’s longtime self-proclaimed dive bar, the Streamline, is having a sign re-lighting party tonight to mark the locale’s change of ownership and new status on the hill.
Former PI columnist/bartender turned bar owner, Mike Lewis, purchased the Queen Anne staple along with three partners earlier this summer and has been just itching to reintroduce it to the neighborhood. The first step was applying for a full liquor license to appeal to cocktail and beer drinkers alike. They also tore-down the old sight and restored it, which will be unveiled at the lighting party.
The shindig starts at 7:30 p.m., just in time for for the bar’s new happy hour – 4 to 7 p.m. daily. Get a tallboy for $1.50, and a micro brew for $2.75.
“For the first time in 25 years (possibly 30) the Streamline Tavern sign will be lit under its own power,” Lewis wrote.
I sat down with Mike a couple weeks ago to chat about his new plans for the old tavern. Check back for that story after the party tonight.

If the shindig is @ 7:30, and the happy ends @ 7:00, how is that 'just in time'?
