Meeting on school boundary maps tonight

October 12th, 2009 by Thea

Seattle Public Schools is holding a public meeting to discuss the new student assignment boundary maps today, Monday, October 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at McClure Middle School (located at 1915 1st Ave W on the top of the hill).

These changes came as part of the Student Assignment Plan (.pdf) which was approved in June, changing the way students are divvied up among schools and basing it on address rather than a number of other factors. As part of this plan, the district wants to reopen five schools throughout the city, including Old Hay on Queen Anne in Queen Anne.

The public is invited to the meeting tonight to ask questions and discuss the new boundary maps, which will be voted on by the School Board on November 18th.

If you can’t make it to tonight’s meeting, there are several other taking place in our neighboring communities. See a full list of meeting times and locations, click here.
