Nominate ‘everyday heroes’ for a Red Cross award

October 1st, 2009 · No Comments

Each year the Seattle Red Cross honors “everyday heroes” who have helped someone in need whether it be raising money, volunteering time and services, or giving life-saving CPR. And now the organization is looking for extraordinary people in the community to recognize for the 2009 American Red Cross awards.

As a community leader in emergency preparedness, prevention and response, the American Red Cross is honoring individuals whose extraordinary acts of courage or kindness make them someone’s hero. The Red Cross will present awards to local heroes who have literally and figuratively saved the life of another, exemplified the Red Cross mission or made a significantly positive difference in his or her community.

There are several categories that heroes can be nominated for: fire, police, workplace safety, adult & youth good samaritan as well as nature and medical rescue. The nominee must be a resident of King County and the heroic act must have occurred in the county between December 1, 2008, and November 30, 2009.

The 14th annual “Everyday People, Everyday Heroes” breakfast will be held next March. Proceeds from the breakfast support disaster relief efforts. You can fill out the nomination form here.
