The launch party for Heather Davis’s first published young adult book Never Cry Werewolf, at Queen Anne Books on Friday was a huge hit!

The first-time author and three-year Queen Anne resident did a reading from her novel, released September 1, signed copies to fans, held a Q&A and entertained attendees with themed snacks. There were full moon brownies made by Heather herself, peanut butter wolf paws made by Queen Anne Books’ very own Tegan Tigani, and gummi worms brought by Heather’s mom (apparently gummy candies play a significant role in the story!)

According to Tegan, over 60 people came to the local bookshop for the launch party, including two people from Concrete, WA (over two hours away!) where Heather used to work and live when she first began writing young adult fiction. Tegan writes,
Friends and family showed huge support. I met aunts, uncles, her mom, her niece, her grandfather, and even a man who went to high school with her. She also had a strong group of teen fans. Two fans who couldn’t make it that night had pre-ordered signed copies. Heather sold over 50 books!!!!!
Heather next book, The Clearing, a more serious novel for the 14s and up, will be published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in April 2010.
According to Tegan as of this morning there are still a few signed copies of Never Cry Werewolf available at Queen Anne Books, so you better hurry!
