Movies flying off the shelves at Blockbuster’s closing sale

August 25th, 2009 by Thea

Yesterday was the first day of the Upper QA Blockbuster closing sale. We stopped in to check out the commotion, and the rumors are true, the entire store’s contents are up for grabs at discounted prices.

Despite the fact that clearanace only began yesterday, the shelves were already looking barren by 7 p.m. last night, with people rummaging through the titles and hauling large stacks of DVDs to the check-out line.

According to the manager, the store is scheduled to close on Sunday, September 20. That means you have just over three weeks to stock up. The manager wasn’t sure if prices would go down more, though he said he wouldn’t be surprised; the only downside of waiting until the last minute is the selection will be slim-pickings.
