QA Chamber eliminates director position

July 24th, 2009 · 3 Comments

In an email to members of the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce, President Dave Peterson announced that the position of executive director, currently held by Jill Arnow, would be terminated due to budget considerations.  Ms. Arnow’s last day with the Chamber is today. From the email:

“In order for the Chamber to continue growing and to do so in a fiscally responsible manner, we, like so many other companies, have had to make some tough decisions; this was one of them.”

According to Jill, the decision to terminate this position was unexpected by herself and by the membership.  Kaila Wyman, writing on Examiner.com, explained that some members have voiced their concern and frustration by sending messages to the Chamber’s email group. “I think this is one of the most discourteous messages I have ever read. Jill Arnow was doing a fine job and deserves better than what you have stated below,” read one email from a Chamber member. Additional members to the Chambers Board of Directors are being sought out.  Currently there is no information available on the Chamber website regarding the transition. Questions can be e-mailed to the Chamber of Commerce at contact@qachamber.org.
