Dr. Michael Rosenfield of the Emerald City Medical Arts in Queen Anne (16 Roy Street, Seattle) knows very clearly what the impact of layoffs and a down economy can feel like. He began noticing that some of his regular patients were not coming for their regular visits. He also was informed that patients were not picking up their medications from the pharmacy.
For many, job loss also means loss of insurance benefits, and for many this is one necessary expense that they are cutting. Dr. Rosenfield has developed a self-pay option for patients who have lost their insurance. He offers a sliding scale that depends on each person’s situation.
“The process is less expensive for our office because it requires less handling to be reimbursed by the insurance companies,” said Rosenfield.
A story posted by KING5 explains this issue and gives kudo’s to Rosenfield for thinking through some possible options. The Medical Assistance Customer Service Center, which can be reached toll free at 1-800-562-3022, can also provided needed medical assistance for those who have lost their jobs.
