Walking tours of the viaduct

March 12th, 2009 · No Comments

If you have always wanted to get up close and personal with the Alaskan Way Viaduct, here’s your chance.  There will be free public walking tours of the Viaduct on Saturday, March 21.

The Viaduct will be closed to traffic for an inspection, so tour-goers can walk around and check out the structure which may eventually be demolished for a bored tunnel and street improvements.

The 45-minute guided tours run from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Reservations are required. E-mail your name and contact information to viaduct@wsdot.wa.gov, or call 1-888-AWV-LINE. You’ll receive a confirmation e-mail. For safety purposes, no children under the age of 16 or pets are allowed on the tours.

If this interests you, hurry to make your reservation.  They tell us that tours are filling up quickly.
